Full of flavor and nutrition, make you own today!

Bone Broth is full of protein, amino acids, vitamins, gelatin and more! Making your own bone broth is easy and with an added bonus, makes your house smell so good! This is sustainability. Using the entire animal to provide nourishment for your family. Using the lesser known portions, often saves you money and is filled with flavor. Don’t let the time hinder you, a little effort (perhaps while your sleeping?) and you will have chemical free, nutritious flavor for you and your family.

Seasoned Bone Broth: All you need is the chicken backs and our seasoning pack with a pot of water!

Place chicken backs and seasoning packet** to a large pot and cover with water, bring to a boil, lower temp to a very low simmer. On our stove we use just the center burner of a larger 3 ring burner. This is a low and slow, don’t rush it. An alternative if you have it is a slow cooker or crock pot. Both could work in this recipe.

Simmer for one hour, remove meat from the pot. Set meat aside for later use. Return bones/backs to pot. Add vinegar. Simmer on low for about 20 hours, adding water if needed. I don’t add any extra water the last 8 hours as I try to reduce the broth for a more condensed version. Place a colander into a large pot or bowl, drain stock through colander. Let the liquid cool. When cooled, you will notice a layer of fat on the top of the liquid. It is easy to scoop off and discard, it is up to you if you want to do this. The broth is ready to use or freeze! You can use the meat pieces for a soup, tacos, your furry friends, as a stuffing, there are many options! I find ice cube trays are the easiest. I collect the cubes and put into one container. I can easily divide the pieces as I want to add a little or a lot of flavor.

**Seasoning packet: This is our own very special blend of seasoning developed with another local company, Charleston Spice Company. They use organic spices to make this broth simply the best! We can offer traditional or a salt free version. This packet is filled with all the seasoning you need for a broth packed with flavor.

Soup! Chicken Soup is the best for when your feeling down, missing home, or just want a meal full of flavor. There are many versions of chicken soup, this is our favorite!

Ingredients:

Left over chicken, 1/2 -2 pounds, depends on how much meat you want in your soup/stew. Shredded or bite size pieces

1 head garlic

1-2 yellow onions

1/2 pound celery

1/2-1 pound carrots -make the soup your own, add root vegetables to your liking, turnips, potatoes..go for it!

8-10 cubes of chicken bone broth from above

Preparation:

Dice an onion

Roughly chop the garlic

Peel and cut carrots (about 1/2 inch)

Do the same with the celery/root vegetables

Place all this in a pot with left over chicken pieces, about 10 cubes of the broth from above, add extra water to cover, and begin to simmer. Allow to simmer for about an hour. The goal is to have the vegetables softened before adding the noodles. When vegetables are getting softer, almost ready to eat, add the egg noodles. Allow to boil for another 10 minutes, Season with salt if needed, serve.
